Cohasset Police Charge Wakefield Man With Assault On A Minor Following Incident on Border Street Bridge

COHASSET — Chief William Quigley reports that the Cohasset Police Department arrested and charged a man following an incident this weekend on the Border Street Bridge.

WAYNE AIKENS, AGE 57, OF WAKEFIELD, is charged with:

  • Indecent Assault and Battery on a Child Under 14
  • Reckless Endangerment of a Child
  • Simple Assault and Battery (three counts)

On Friday, Aug. 13 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Cohasset Police were dispatched to the Border Street Bridge for a report of an intoxicated man harassing minors on the bridge.

Upon arrival, police located a group of teenagers who were pointing in the direction of a man, later identified as AIKENS, stating that he had allegedly pushed a female teenager off the bridge and into the water below.

Police spoke to the reporting party, a 23-year-old Cohasset man, who said he witnessed AIKENS harassing a teenage male before becoming agitated and aggressive. Police then spoke to the teenage male, who said AIKENS approached a group of teenagers on the bridge, encouraging them to jump off the bridge into the water. When one indicated she did not wish to jump, AIKENS allegedly placed his hands around her waist and push her twice. The second push caused the teen to fall approximately 10-15 feet into the water below.

The teenage male also stated that that AIKENS punched him in the arm when he confronted him.

The teenager who fell into the water did not report any injuries as a result of the fall and declined medical treatment at the scene.

AIKENS was placed under arrest and transported to the Cohasset Police headquarters without incident. He was arraigned this morning in Quincy District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Cohasset Police Department To Charge Boston Man Following String of Motor Vehicle Break-Ins

COHASSET — Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley reports that a Boston man has been arrested and charged by Hanover Police in connection with several motor vehicle break-ins that occurred in the area recently, and additional charges from Cohasset Police are pending.

On Thursday morning, May 13, the Hanover Police Department arrested a 37-year-old Boston man on several motor vehicle and drug charges. The man was allegedly found to be in possession of numerous stolen items.

Because charges have not yet been formally filed by the Cohasset Police, the department is unable to publicly release the suspect’s identity at this time.

Through the investigation, Hanover and Cohasset detectives coordinated their efforts and were able to connect some of the recovered stolen property to a string of motor vehicles that were broken into in the area of North Main Street, Green Street and Red Gate Lane in Cohasset on Tuesday, May 11.

The man will be charged by Cohasset Police with multiple counts of Breaking and Entering and Receiving Stolen Property. As this is still an active investigation, more charges could follow.

“We thank the members of the Hanover Police for their hard work and diligence in assisting in this case,” Chief Quigley said.

Any resident who has information about the May 11 break-ins is asked to contact Cohasset Police Detectives at 781 383-1055 ext. 6107 or email mlopes@cohassetpolice.com.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Cohasset Police Arrest and Charge Man Following Home Break-In

COHASSET — Chief William Quigley reports that the Cohasset Police Department arrested a man yesterday who allegedly broke into a home early Sunday morning.

DYLAN DONAHUE, AGE 27, OF NORWELL is charged with:

  • Breaking and Entering into a Building in the Nighttime (Felony)
  • Possession of Burglarious Tools (Felony)

At approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, Cohasset Police responded to a home on Atlantic Avenue for a report of a residential break-in in progress. The homeowner, who was not home at the time, received an alert via text from his Ring doorbell camera, showing a man unsuccessfully trying to gain entry into the rear of his home.

The homeowner immediately called police and officers were dispatched to the home.

Officers arrived and located the man, later identified as DONAHUE, in the backyard of the home. Police believed DONAHUE to be the same man depicted in Ring footage during a successful break-in at the same home earlier Sunday morning.

DONAHUE was arrested in connection with the earlier break-in and brought to Cohasset Police headquarters. He was held overnight and is scheduled to be arranged today in Quincy District Court.

Police are still working with the homeowner to determine if anything was stolen during the break-in or during the subsequent break-in attempt. The investigation remains ongoing and DONAHUE could face additional charges.

“The homeowner and dispatchers did an excellent job in this case by staying on the telephone together and guiding our officers to the suspect,” Chief Quigley said. “This arrest was made due to the outstanding work by our patrol officers, detectives and dispatchers. It also shows that home security devices add that extra layer of protection, and we highly recommend them.”

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
