The Public Safety Building at 62 Elm Street in Cohasset has a long history. It was initially constructed in 1962 and later renovated in the 1980s. Over the years, it has served as the home for the town’s Police and Fire Departments. However, the facility has become outdated and is no longer suitable for modern public safety requirements or the evolving needs of the Cohasset community.
Recognizing these challenges, the Town of Cohasset is implementing a comprehensive plan to improve its public safety infrastructure. The proposed plan includes:
- Relocating the Police Headquarters to 135 King Street.
- Constructing a new fire substation.
- Renovating the existing Fire Headquarters at the Elm Street location.
These upgrades are essential to meet current safety standards and ensure that the town’s emergency services can operate effectively.
This project is designed to maximize the functionality of both the new and renovated spaces, providing a practical, long-term solution that will serve Cohasset for the next 50 years. By creating more efficient and modern facilities, the town aims to enhance its public safety capabilities and better serve the community’s needs well into the future.
